Since 1997, airports from across Canada have participated in the "Inside Canadian Airports" benchmarking network, sharing valuable information on their revenues and expenditures, staffing levels, passengers and aircraft movements, air services, and more. Feedback from participating airports has indicated a strong need for even more detailed information, and the current issue is one of the largest to date.

The Inside Canadian Airports report on Benchmarking Data was created to provide current, comprehensive and affordable information to airport managers and decision-makers across Canada. Building on the premise of sharing knowledge to gain knowledge, the foundation of the network is the annual publication, which summarizes the financial and operational activities at participating airports.

The benchmarking report is comprised of three main sections:

"A Summary of Canadian Airport Operations ", presents financial data plus information on air and ground side operations for each participating airport. Each site profile includes revenues and expenses, enplaned and deplaned passengers, aircraft movements, air carriers, charter operators, cargo tonnage, and an inventory of airport services during the year ending just prior to the year of publication. Some airports have participated in the survey on the condition that their financial information is kept strictly confidential. In those cases, the information is used for the industry analysis only.
“Airport Fees and Charges” provides detailed listings of the fees and charges in place at participating airports during the year.
“Fee Summary and Analysis” – includes totals and averages for the survey data for each fee type.
